Actually, Deko, i believe the situation to be a little more complicated than that. Remember how VoidMaster commented on the subtility of the void ? And remember Yull’s mission was to get to Grumps and hit him with void ? Sure he could have killed Grumps if he wanted to.
That, combined with the fact Alberio is surprised to see void inside the church, tells me that Yull’s mission was not to kill Grumps, but to corrupt him all along. And that combined with the shock of the news, makes the corruption take hold and manifest itself. What better way to sneak in for a dark energy than to use the confused darker member of the hero party ?
